Ayurvedic point of view of bites and stings

The bites and stings of insects can cause a local irritation under the skin. The longer the poison is on the skin, the more allergic reactions or more serious problems such as sting-bite nephritis (involves generalized edema and breathlessness). To sum up, the bites don’t often cause any problems, but sometimes they can produce them, that’s why you have to be very observant and know how to calm and reduce a sting.

6 Home natural remedies for bites and stings

• Cilantro:

Taking cilantro juice will pacify the burning, itching and rash crated by the bite or sting. For the cilantro juice, put cilantro in a blender with 1/3 cup of water and blend. Drink it using 2 teaspoons 3 times a day. You can also put the pulp in the affected area for a more effective remedy. A decoction of cilantro seeds, soaking a cotton in the liquid and applying on the affected area is very effective as well.

• Drink coconut water:

Mix 1/3 cup of coconut water with 1/8 teaspoon of kama dudha and drink it 2 or 3 times a day. It will heal the bite.

• Coconut ash:

Take a piece of dried coconut and set fire to it. Let it burn and blow it out. You will see a little smoke and when it disappears a black residue will remain. Apply the residue directly to the bite. Coconut contains antihistamines and natural steroids that will reduce the burning.

• Neem oil or neem paste:

Neem is an antidote for almost all the insect venoms. Mix neem powder and water and apply it to the skin. Leave it for almost 10 minutes and rinse it off.

• Healing paste:

Mix ½ teaspoon of sandalwood with ½ teaspoon turmeric with water to make a paste and apply it to the site of the bite.

• Plantain:

Plantain is a natural pain killer, anti-inflammatory, naturally antiseptic and anti-viral, as well as anti-histamine. To use it just mash some leaves and apply them directly to the bite.

Above remedies really relieve the symptoms and speed up the healing process, they are easy to make and you will see the benefits immediately!

Enjoy your summer!
